Science Research Special Awards
Participation by Lansdale AAUW started in 2018
The Montgomery County Science Teachers’ Association and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit co-sponsor the Montgomery County Science Research Competition.
Purpose:
To recognize outstanding budding female scientists through special awards.
To encourage and foster the continuation of science exploration in young women.
Award Process:
The AAUW has provided Special Award judges to evaluate projects and present cash prizes to two outstanding female scientists. Judges dedicate their time engaging with students, learning about their projects, and selecting the winners.
Participants:
Students from public and private schools will present their projects in person across various disciplines, including mathematics, ecology, computer science, biochemistry, physics, engineering, and microbiology. They invest significant time and effort into:
exploring scientific problems
conducting experiments
interpreting results
presenting their findings
This competition is traditionally held every year in March.
